At exactly 9:00am EST on Dec. 1, 2006, thousands of triathletes and wanna-be-triathletes (myself included) had to make sure they were firmly stationed at their computers with their credit cards in hand.
It was commitment time.
April 29, 2007 marks the kick off of the 2007 triathlon season and the biggest race of the year(over 3000 competitors), and if you weren't logged on at 9:00am sharp, you might miss out on being one of the lucky 3,000 people.
Now some food for thought....Over the next four months, participants will be running, biking, and swimming until they can't move any more, on race day they will be up at 4:ooam, diving into freezing cold water at 6:00am, and exerting themselves so much they'll sleep the rest of the day.
What is it that posseses us to schedule our lives around this sign up time and pay $150 to participate in this tortuous series of events?
